Wine - the drink of the gods
Wine – refined, mysterious and eternal.
Since ancient times, the crimson red drink has been associated with gods, fertility, health and merriment. It is believed that as early as 6000 years ago (4000 BC), Egyptians revered wine as a symbol of Hathor, goddess of celebration, love and beauty. Sources indicate that monthly rituals of intoxication were performed in her honor, during which worshipers connected with their goddess by drinking wine.
Wine and Freedom
When examining myths and legends, we cannot overlook the figure of Dionysus (also called Dionysius or Bacchus). God of joy, theatre, viticulture and, of course, wine. As the son of Zeus, Dionysus is one of the main gods of the ancient Greek Pantheon, but upon closer examination, we can see his image in Roman and Thracian legends as the so-called "eleutherios" – a liberator who, through the intoxicating power of wine, supported by music and merriment, granted people the much-needed freedom of spirit.
Wine and Bread
The mythologizing of the divine drink does not stop there. The role of wine in Christianity dates back more than 1800 years. Mentioned as the blood of God or as part of the drinks from the Last Supper, the so-called "divine juice of the vine" was one of the symbols of life, joy and community in ancient times.
